Have people given up?

I've always wanted to be a writer. It's the one thing I've wanted to do,  seriously so,  since my youth.

I've always imagined seeing myself in print. Always imagined holding something tangible in my hands that has my name on.

But now we have Kindle and Nook. And with the advent of the Internet, we have a whole world of aspiring writers opened up to us trying to make it.

Im nit takung anythubg away from peoole who have done it,  but this got me wondering. Have people given up on trying to traditionally publish?

I know I haven't. But I'm just one voice.

I have a novel,  one of a couple, that yet has to be written that I'm determined to send to publishers and agents.

So, how many of you guys are sending stuff out into the real world beyond the electronic one?

I'm curious.
